After that, enable HDR and only calibrate the white point (1st slide) with the in-screen instructions, left the second untouched right in the middle, because it's borked.

I believe he states to follow the directions for the first slider and then leave it right in the middle on the 2nd. Even one tick to the left will crush blacks. It fixed my problem.
